Jillian Cheong is a Singaporean artist who believes that art should inspire hope and celebrate beauty. A turning point in her art practice was when she came down with Long Covid in 2022. Unable to fulfill her roles as wife, mother, daughter, and artist, this caused her to re-evaluate her way of measuring success, and to grapple with the concepts of identity, worth and value.
Through this journey, she has learned to celebrate each moment and to value each individual for who they are and not what they do. These themes carry strongly in her artworks. Nature is often her source of inspiration, in both imagery and metaphor.
Jillian’s artworks are characterized by evocative use of colour and light. Working primarily in acrylic, her work has also seen the use of fabric collage to explore texture, dimensionality, and heritage. She limits her choice of fabric to what is left over from sewing discards, finding joy and meaning in repurposing what was left behind to create something new.
Art that inspires hope and celebrates beauty, bringing joy to your home.
