Who am I?
I am an artist from home and mum of 3 kids. I make art inspired from nature, my personal experiences and my faith.
Art that speaks of hope and beauty
People say a picture speaks a thousand words. I want my art to celebrate beauty and speak hope into the lives of others. I want my art to captivate people and help them discover what is often less appreciated and less seen.
Journey
I always loved art from my youth, sketching and painting animals right from my school days. However I never never considered it as a potential career option. Instead, my love of nature and wildlife led me to pursue a Life Sciences degree, and eventually a career as an A level Biology teacher. But life as a teacher was hectic and I found it difficult to be present as a mother to my kids. Having my 3rd child was the catalyst that made me decide that I needed to find something else that would allow me to be around to parent my children. This eventually led me to rediscover my love for art and to pursue it.
Inspirations
I have always loved nature and animals. Most of my artwork draws inspiration from the local wildlife in Singapore where I live and the local alley cats I encounter. I enjoy depicting animals we see here in Singapore in their urban contexts. I also draw inspiration from my personal experiences, the imagery that is evoked by poetry and the Bible, anything that I feel is life giving and brings joy. I also enjoy doing pet portrait commissions. It gives me pleasure being able to capture their likenesses and expressions, knowing that these pets are well loved by their owners.
